Neuropathic pain and symptoms - this may be due topain, tingling, pins and needles, numbness, burning, temperature changes usually occurring in a limb, hand or foot and this includes Diabetic Neuropathy, Peripheral Neuropathy, post chemotherapy, other conditions causing neuropathy - HIV, alcoholism, poisoning

Complex Regional Pain Syndromes occur usually in a limb and may develop spontaneously, after injury or surgery. This condition affects both the circulation and the nerve supply in the area. The hand or foot may change colour, become swollen and often the foot and leg, hand or arm may become difficult to move . 


Our practice also understands how difficult rehabilitation is for a patient that may have a complex regional pain condition known as CRPS or any other condition

Fibromyalgia – a disorder of pain regulation and central sensitization with multisite pain sites in the body and limbs– this may be due to inflammatory changes and autoimmune system dysfunction

Persistent Post Surgical Pain Syndromes – due to mastectomy and or reconstruction, hernia, 

Total Knee Replacement, elbow, bunionectomy or any other area post operatively that causes pain that does not respond to the usual care such as medication or injection treatment

 Facial Pain possibly from post dental treatment or spontaneous pain in the mouth or face, post radiation for Cancer of the mouth, throat, Xerostomia from radiation – with the parotid glands not functioning

Trigeminal Neuralgia may produce facial or headache pain due to injury or inflammation of the nerve

 Post stroke spasticity is a condition in which muscles stiffen or tighten, preventing normal fluid movement. The muscles remain contracted and resist being stretched, thus affecting movement, speech and gait, flaccidity is a state characterised by a complete loss of muscle tone, as occurs in flaccid paralysis of poliomyelitis

  • Injury, joint pain, stiffness.
  • Muscle weakness as in Bell’s palsy, Ramsey Hunt syndrome (shingles), post acoustic neuroma removal.  Compression of a peroneal nerve due to injury.  Long thoracic nerve injury.
  • Degenerative spinal disease creating compression in a nerve that exits from the spinal region – from the cervical, thoracic or lumbar regions .  Failed back syndrome that may develop after having had many surgeries to the spinal region.
  • Chronic thoracic pain after an injury, surgery or degeneration in the thoracic spine.
  • Vestibular conditions from the inner ear creating dizziness, nausea and balance disorders  
  • Pelvic pain that may be due to surgery, injury or inflammatory conditions within the pelvis
  • Any musculoskeletal condition that requires general physiotherapy
